Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow…

Day to day, it’s easy to just get on with what you’re doing. Especially when there’s no shortage of work that you’re proven to be good at, and the occasional more challenging and interesting project comes in on the back of that. With a never-empty workshop and an endless to-do-list, updating our brand and website and better positioning ourselves in the market hadn’t been our top priority. We knew it was probably a good idea; we just weren’t getting round to it.

But we felt we should at least look into it. And we’d reached a point where we were more than qualified to position ourselves as expert consultants and focus on securing more challenging and unusual projects.

Salad is an agency based in Poole, with a proven track record in getting to the heart of a business’ value and character, and helping it to better express its inherent value to target audiences.
We’d spoken to them in 2016, but then got busy again… for six years! So this story really starts in 2022, when we got back in touch. By now, we could clearly see that our website was no longer reflective of what we’d become over those six years and more. And, like so many businesses new to branding, repositioning, values, and so on, we said ‘we just want a new website’, assuming that would do the trick.
Salad could have done just that, but they didn’t. It was clear to them, even from the initial conversations we’d had, that no one really does what we do, to such high standards. Nor does anyone else really cover the sheer range of capabilities, or have such experience-backed consultative value.
Of course, we could have just gone ahead and said those things. But for our story – and our proposition – to be compelling and change our focus, it needed expertise that we don’t have. We can talk about the complex nuances and behaviours of various metals, and know what’s possible with them creatively, but we’re not branding and positioning experts. Thankfully, Salad are.
They really helped us to tell our story to a wider audience – to the people with the ambitious projects who need metalwork experts with decades of wider project context and understanding. Salad took us through a methodical investigation into who we are as people and as a business, and how we could position ourselves to head in the direction we wanted to take. Tying that authenticity of personality, expertise, passion and professionalism together was what we needed to start an exciting new era for DMark.
It’s not something we’d ever done before, or ever really considered in such depth. But we trusted them, and it taught us a lot. They helped us create a new identity, proposition, branding, copy and tone of voice, photography… and, of course, the 2024 website that ties all of that together.
But the story doesn’t end there. We were tentative at first, but we’ve really enjoyed the process, and the results are great. We’ll keep working with the team at Salad as our business and our story evolve together, and we know we can call on them whenever we need anything. They understand us as well as anyone.
