Our Projects

An existing client simply asked us to ‘create a showcase piece’. That was all we had to go on – having earned their trust on previous commissions, they gave us free reign to create whatever we liked. All we knew was that they would likely use it for an interior design expo.

An old contact of ours, Peter Linnett, got in touch when he’d joined DKT Artworks, and asked if we’d be keen to create a unique and high-end fireplace canopy and flue cowling. He didn’t have to say much more than that. This sounded like a typical DMark bespoke metalwork project, and that if anyone could do it, it was us.

Since looking after a private racing car collection in the late 1980s, Don has built more than 20 aluminium replacement gearbox covers for this Austin Healey classic. They are, of course, functional pieces to replace the original steel versions – but also something to behold in their shape and form. 

One never made it to the car it was intended for, as the new owner considered it ‘a work of art’. And the craftsmanship alone has earned DMark several entirely non-car-related projects.  

A colleague from Don’s days at UK Ferrari dealership Emblem Sports Cars in Pimperne contacted him to discuss recreating a famous Ferrari for musician and songwriter (and in this case, filmmaker) Chris Rea.

Chris was, and remains, a Ferrari fanatic. He wanted a comparable Ferrari Le Mans 250 TRI 61 built for his film La Passione, which he was writing and producing at the time.

DMark received another of those ‘out of nowhere’ calls… this time from James Oliver, at the time Head of production at LINLEY in London, the company founded by David Linley the furniture designer (and Earl of Snowdon, and honorary chairman of the auction house Christie’s), to help create a standout chaise for the 2014 Masterpiece Fair set in the grounds of The Royal Hospital Chelsea, London.

Linley’s design took inspiration from the traditional wing-back chair aesthetic and the work of Hans Wegner, and we were asked to provide metalwork craftsmanship for what became known as ‘The Silhouette Chair’.

A remarkable custom project, rare in scope and scale, for Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Limited (HSH). Our involvement with the Napier Room project demanded not just expert fabrication, coachbuilding techniques and metal finishing, but also in-depth consultation, problem-solving and practical oversight. It involved 973 hand-finished louvres, more than 12,000 copper rivets, 3D printed specialist tooling, accurate brass and aluminium formations, and polishing the equivalent of 1.5 football pitches – without a single ding, dent or scratch!
